Couture Fashion Week under the spotlight; being launched with Versace Couture. Full post on all designers to follow up soon. Let me concentrate on Raf Simon's first debut collection for Christian Dior Couture; the show all the fashion world was anticipating with their breath taken.
The likes of the Princess of Monaco, Donatella Versace, Alber Elbaz, Charlotte Rampling, Natalia Vodianova, Marc Jacobs, Riccardo Tisci and others were there keenly waiting to see what the Belgian designer would reveal.
Simons, kept the classic Dior style; elegant silhouettes with feminine tight waists and exaggerated hips - and with his modern yet ultra chic and simple touch, he brought them to today.
The style was fulfilled with neon eye make-up, fire-red lips , pointy heels and super-strict slick hair.
Cigarette pants, bustiers and bustier dresses, embellished and embroidered; all with a dramatic architectural shape. Simon's gowns escaped from the traditional meaning of 'the gown', as while glamorous and astoundingly feminine, designs had an androgynous touch, a strict sense of respect (Vogue). You can see all the picture report up on French Vogue!
Absolutely loved the breath-taking blue flowers covering all the walls. In terms of catwalks pieces, the super-structured waist garments ( first picture) have gotten my likes (and my heart)!
Being his first collection for the fashion house, Simons definitely delivered; he justifiably received all the fashion world's applause!
Can't wait to see his hidden cards for the upcoming Fashion Week.
