London Fashion Week kicked off yesterday and it was yet an amazing day. Fashion crowd hit London from all around the world. Bloggers, stylists, journalists and editors, fashion wanderers and lovers gathered to see what the 'alternative' fashion capital had to offer. My highlights of the day; Bora Aksu and Corrie Nielsen...
"My main starting point for inspiration came from Queen Victoria's grand-daughter, Marie, who became the Queen of Romania in 1922. The way she embraced traditional Romanian culture without losing her Englishness led to a lot of beautiful references. As well as her style and charisma, inspiration for spring/summer 2013 has come from the love she had for her botanical garden in Balchik." Bora stated.
Elegant romantic feminine shapes, soft delicate fabrics floating and embracing the body, Alice in Wonderland-ish fairy hair & make up and a pastel color palette enhanced with mustard yellow and royal - that took us to the sky's deepest - blues, Bora Aksu impressed with his SS13 collection. Striking knitted crowns by Liria Pristine.
From Bora Aksu to the princess of London's haute couture scene; Corrie Nielsen presented yesterday her - Kew Royal Botanic Gardens inspired by - collection for SS13 titled ‘Florilegium’. Creamy beige, salmon pink, green and grey with details of soft dip-dyes; silk, organza, chiffon and leather enfolded the models' bodies creating Nielsen's trademark sculptured shapes that her exquisite craftsmanship is known for. My favorite of all; the breath-taking sheer gown, decorated with green exotic leaves.
